San Jose State clips Hawaii, 75-74

The San Jose State Spartans managed to pull out a narrow, 75-74 victory over the Hawaii Warriors.

Adrian Oliver scored 29 points, including the game-winning jump shot with just five seconds to play.

The Spartans trailed almost the entire way until grabbing a lead with two minutes to play.

The upset allows San Jose State to move forward in the Western Athletic Conference tournament.

Will Carter added 15 points for the Spartans, who will move on to face Idaho in the quarterfinals.

San Jose State is hoping to show some improvement on the gridiron this year, but the schedule doesn’t help much. The team begins the season with difficult games against defending champion Alabama and Wisconsin.

Both of those teams run the ball at will against most opponents, while San Jose State can’t stop the run. Do the math.

You would think after that things would have to get considerable easier for the Spartans, but they don’t. San Jose State must take on the Utah Utes followed by the Nevada Wolfpack and Boise State Broncos.
